As an educated black woman, we all know that the numbers are against most of us if we actually want to marry a black man. I took the time to assess my own personal situation in relation to some of the statistics and it's currently featured on EmpressMag.com. You can check the article out HERE.

Probably one of my favorite interviews to date since I love me some Teedra Moses.

Part II has no background noise... sorry for that but all these people were in the dressing room and finally left.

Also check out this in studio with Chester Gregory. He's currently playing in Dream Girls at Apollo and is a great talent. If you are in NYC this rendition is a must see and it running at Apollo theater until December 8th and then will be traveling to various cities across the country and Japan over the next year so if it hits your city definitely check it out.

Part II he talks about Dream Girls

It really hurts my spirit sometimes when I'm in a theater where people are yelling out questions that would have been answered if they had just read the book. Now I know I haven't read every book before going to see it in a movie but something like the movie Precious should be a no brainer for all. They have been promoting this for over a year and a book as small as Push by Sapphire shouldn't take anyone more than a week to read. Black people we have to do better. Not be excited about a story because Tyler Perry and Oprah decided to endorse i,t but excited to see a great book make it to the big screen when so many of our stories are lost.

Last Friday, yes on opening day... I rushed to the theater to see Precious. Theaters all over NYC were sold out and I was so extremely proud. Even though I had to get tix to a show I didn't want to because the times I could go were all sold out, I moved some things around in my schedule to make sure that I went.

The movie was amazing. Mo'Nique acted her behind off.

But there were so many distractions in the theater. I was sitting next to a lady probably in her late 40s that hadn't read the book and was asking a load of questions throughout the entire movie. She was with a clan of other women her age so a couple times I leaned over to tell her what was going on so she could pass it along because they seemed to be confused as to what was going on just about the entire movie. She appreciated it, but this really bugged me. The movie is almost directly in line with the book so there should have been no questions at all. The book is definitely a lot more graphic, and I also don't feel the movie fully explained the fact that Precious' mother was mentally ill, but besides that I have no complaints.

I know it has only been released in select cities so most of my readers may have not had the chance to see the movie, but if it does come to your cities please go see it, but make sure you've read the book first.

Eb Ustreamed!!!

Yeah so I've had a ustream account for a couple months and never did anything with it. Last night though, I had some people over the crib for Mexican night and of course it was all in the name of Dallas so we all watched the Cowboys/Eagles game last night. The vid is hella long but a good time since my Cowboys won. It may not have been as gitty if we lost... but either way if you have the length of a football game of time to spare peep the vid.

Biggups to my lil bro Lowkey for taking over the Ustream while I was hosting. Sorry for all the yelling... I felt like I was channeling Mo'Nique on her talk show will all that yelling... you can skip through the first 15minutes... its pretty boring... we were just setting up but after that it gets pretty entertaining...lol
Also follow my ustream. I had hella fun and plan on doing it more often so definitely follow and tune in. www.ustream.com/Eb_the_Celeb

I think I'm going to start this new segment. You all know this is the world I live in and why not share it will you all. I usually just throw some entertainment stuff here and there in my Randomosity posts but now we're going to make it more formal. I hope you like.

First up... PRECIOUS comes out this Friday and I want you all to go see it. I just finished the book and I am uber excited to see how the characters will be portrayed on the big screen. I'm sure you've all seen the trailers by now and I hope you'll be out there supporting.

Now a movie you may not have seen the trailer for is for Why Did I Get Married Too. I loved the first and will most definitely be checking out the second. Plus Malik Yoba follows me on twitter so I have to show love to those that show love to me. Check out this ET exclusive.

Uuummm this looks like its going to be 10x better than the first and a milli times more drama. I can't wait until April when this is in theaters.

This whole Rihanna mess is getting on my nerves... all this time has went by and she hasn't opened her dog on mouth and now all of a sudden since she has an album coming out she wants to spill all the beans. Rihanna WE DONT BELIEVE YOU. I'm sorry if you wanted to help women everywhere and it be sincere you should have talked about this a looooong time ago. Now it seems as if you are using a battery situation to promote your album and I can't respect that. But I'm still going to watch... hehehehehehe.

Supposedly she is going to really talk about what happened that night Friday night on 20/20 and I will be watching that as well.

There is a load of new music out. First and foremost all my readers should have Melanie Fiona's album. She is a doll, can blow, and is amazing live. You should have her album, I'm talking about you can listen to it start to finish, no skipping songs, the entire album is good; and she's on a promo tour so if she is in your city she is a must see. She blew me away when I saw her, and she is so genuine and thanked me for supporting her music early on on my music blog. Freakin' love this chick.

She also follows me on twitter and you should be following her. She's s real and down to earth and its refreshing her appreciation and interaction with her fans.

Another lady that is a must see if one of my fav Ms. Teedra Moses who will be in NYC @Sobs next week and I cant wait... yyyeeessssss... its been a while since she's been here.

Last night I attended Ryan Leslie's Presentation of his new album Transition that was released this past Tuesday. I definitely don't feel this album is as good as his last but hearing the story of how the album came about made me understand the urgency of him releasing 2 albums in one year. When you're inspired, you're inspired and there are definitely a couple notable tracks on the album. Check out some vid from the presentation and go HERE to check out exclusive music videos that aren't out yet that he premiered at the presentation.

Uuummm another album to get when it drops on November 10th is WALE's album. REAL hip hop at his finest. "Beautiful Bliss" with J. Cole & Melanie Fiona, "Shades" with Chrisette Michelle, and World Tour with Jazmine Sullivan are my fav 3 tracks.

50 Cent has an album coming out too but we aren't going to talk about that. We're going to talk about his new cologne ad where he is hella airbrushed & his tattoos seem to have magically disappeared.

What say ye???

The season of giving has officially begun. It kinda freaked me out a bit when I saw a Christmas commercial during the games on Sunday but it was officially November so I don't know why I was surprised. Either way I'm taking the time out to help the NYC Chapter of ACT-SO raise money for programs that benefit high school students. I know the programs I was in back then that really helped shape my decisions in what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. At one point I thought I was going to be an engineer and this was solely based on the fact that I was good in math. Through several programs in high school I realized that it was my destiny to be in a career more creative and I've been blessed to do so many things. No point in these kids going to college and majoring in something they don't love, or no reason in some of these kids thinking that because of their current situation, they won't ever make it to college. Here is the main event fundraiser.

We do understand that times are hard you may not be able to make that contribution so we are having a Wine Happy Hour on Tuesday. Only $5 desired donation to take part in some of the best wines. Click on the pic to RSVP.

Besides those events, my music blog www.jonesin-eb-style.com is a sponsor for a great event recognizing phenomenal women in radio both as personalities or deejays called Leading Ladies.

And of course every month Mixtape Comedy goes down!
Click on the pic to buy tix!

Last and probably the least...there is this blogging chick that gets on my last damn nerves like on the daily she is either harassing me on twitter, asking me for directions on how to get somewhere in NY, blowing up my BBM, or sending me a dozen emails about some blog meet-up she is organizing. Well its her birthday month and she just begged me to come to her party and to bring my lovely readers with me. Click on the flyer to RSVP:

All of the above about Kitty Bradshaw was just jokes for those that don't know how much me and her go back and forth and play around. I love that crazy chick to death.

Hope you all can come out to these wonderful events!

Disorderly Conduct???

By definition from Criminal Law Source:
Disorderly conduct is one of the most common offenses in the United States, and is often the result of unreasonable police officers giving someone a hard time until they lose their cool.
Disorderly conduct generally includes most kinds of unruly or disturbing behaviors, which acts to provoke a disturbance.

Examples of Disorderly Conduct
Disorderly conduct offenses vary widely by state. Here are some of the most common acts that are considered disorderly conduct offenses:

  • Public drunkenness
  • Inciting a riot
  • disturbance of the peace
  • loitering in certain areas
  • fighting / physical altercations
  • obstructing traffic
  • use of extremely obscene or abusive language
  • loud or unreasonable noise
Given the wide range of behaviors that could constitute disorderly conduct, a person may be arrested for this crime without proper cause. Virtually any socially offensive or disruptive conduct may be prosecuted as disorderly conduct.

Eb was arrested last night...and for disorderly conduct. You've read the examples of disorderly conduct and Eb did none of the above. Want to know why Eb got arrested... for asking NYPD Officer Henry Rivera a question.

Outside of Sin City in NYC I didn't even want to go but some friends were in town from Dallas with some cats from Universal Records and asked us to come by. When we walk up there are a million cops everywhere. They are announcing that no one else is getting in. We (me and my roommate) text the person that invited us and he says to just wait a couple minutes, they are holding the door but we already have your wristbands and already paid for you so I'll be out in a minute. At this time they make everyone leave from in front of the club. So we walk down the street.

Its just me and my roommate standing there and 3 cops come over to us and ask us to move.
Eb "We can't stand here on the sidewalk?"
Officer Henry Rivera "We need you to move"
Eb "Why can't we stand here on the sidewalk, we're not even near the club?"
Officer Henry Rivera "Do you want to get a summons that explains why you cant stand here"
Eb "What?"
Officer Henry Rivera "Do you want a summons?"
Eb "I'm going to get a summons for asking you a question?
Officer Henry Rivera "Do you want a summons?"

Then my roommate started video taping

Here is what was said if you didn't catch it.
Eb "No, I want to know how I am breaking the law. I would like to know that"
Officer Henry Rivera "Can you turn around? Can you turn around? You want a summons right?
Eb "You can't arrest me without telling me what I'm being arrested for.
Officer Henry Rivera "Alright, turn around.

I was not told until I got to the precinct what I had been arrested for... and Officer Henry Rivera had the nerve to say it was "Disorderly Conduct." He was seriously ego-tripping and mad that I wasn't some ignorant chick outside a club that doesn't know her rights. That is what I should have been charged with "knowing my rights."

This is the reason I hate cops. For the most part there is a psychological complex about them. Most of them aren't a cop to make the city better. They have an ego, small dicks, were teased as a kid, have issues with their own image. They are looking for something that gives them an essence of power so why not go into the profession of gun toating. I wish we had gotten video when we were standing in front of the club. One officer was slinging his night stick around like he was a drum major.

I'm still in awe of the night I had. Then when they are checking me in a lady cop asks me, you don't seem like the type that would be in a strip club anyway. What were you doing there? I tell her the situation of the people I was meeting and she goes "oh oh oh, you work in the music industry? I need to get your info because my daughter is a singer."

Are you serious??? You have handcuffs on me and you are talking to me about helping your daughter get on.

10 minutes after arriving at the precinct I was let go. Now was any of this necessary??? I'm sure that while you were harassing me... someone in NYC was raped, shot, killed, abused and yet I was arrested for standing on a public sidewalk and asking a cop a question.
